Does ISCFD hold entrance exams?

n the academic year 2007/2008 the school is not planning to hold entrance exams or interviews. As it was the case in the previous years, the admission into the school is determined on the basis of the order of incoming applications or the won competition. (see in the tab NEWS ).

How many years do the studies take and what kind of diploma do I get upon completion of ISCFD?

The studies take 2.5 years (5 semesters, the last one is a diploma semester).
ISCFD is authorised to issue a diploma of a Fashion Designer on the basis of the permission and entry into the register of artistic schools of the Ministry of Culture
no 377/31/2004.
The diploma is issued in the Polish and the English language with the EU grading system of ECTS points. The document is complemented with a Supplement to the diploma.

Do I have to take exams in any specific subjects in the new maturity exam?

ISCFD requires from a student to hold a valid certificate of a maturity exam without any limitations with regard to selected subjects.

How many persons are there in a group?

Groups of students studying in ISCFD comprise 10-25 persons. The groups can be divided into smaller ones depending on the needs of conducted classes or exercises.


What does semester crediting of courses in ISCFD consist in?

All credits in ISCFD are granted in accordance with the requirements of the European Union and binding acts related to education in Poland. Students receive a student's book which is a document of exams and studies record in the school. Entries consists in crediting semester works, readings and passing partial exams and final exams. They can be complemented with exercises and other practical tasks resulting from the proprietary curriculum of studies.


What are the differences between costume designing and fashion designing?

What does the curriculum of the English language as the language of instruction consist in?

From the 2nd year on selected vocational subjects are taught in the English language. Students are prepared for that during the whole first year in foreign languages classes, included in the school syllabus.

Why apart from English do we study in the school Spanish but not e.g. French?

The Spanish language is second most frequently used language in the world. At foreign fairs connected with clothes manufacturing all leaflets and information are printed in English, then in Spanish and subsequently in French and German. Every professionally active designer travelling on business in Europe knows that Spain is one of the best developing fashion market in the world. Lack of knowledge of the language hampers communication and limits the possibilities of a fashion designer.

Do I have to perfectly know English to study in ISCFD?

There are no such requirements, since among others the syllabus of ISCFD comprises studying foreign languages, including English. The knowledge of the English language of a candidate is at the intermediate level (from such a level we start classes), he/she can be even exempted from English classes in the 1st year.

Does the school organise trainings outside of the school?

Yes, students of ISCFD have the possibility or even the obligation to serve external trainings in clothes companies, production houses, photography studios, theatres, etc. (e.g. Atelier Maciej Zień, Caterina, Great Theatre and many others) organised by the school and included in the student's books. Students receive a written certificate of a served training, which is an important element of a CV and portfolio.

How much does studying in ISCFD cost?

The tuition fee in the academic year 2007/2008 amounts to PLN 390 (around EUR 100) per month in all types of studies (daytime studies, evening studies and weekend studies), payable during 10 months a year, from September till June *, **.
* Tuition fee for students of the Academy of Fine Arts in one-year post-secondary school amounts to PLN 290 (around EUR 80) per month.
** For all persons who pay a tuition fee according to the contract and statutes of the school without any delays till the 5th day of every month in advance the holiday period is free.

Will the tuition fee be increased?

No. ISCFD, as the only artistic school guarantees unchangeability of the tuition fee for the period of 2 years from admitting the candidate into the school.


Does ISCFD make educational and artistic materials available?

The school makes available the following materials:
books and dictionaries for foreign languages studying,
professional books and required manuals,
other books from the library of ISCFD (over 100 titles),
selected titles from the press,
artistic materials (paper, tracing paper, cardboard, all stationery, drawing and painting materials necessary to perform exercises during classes),
materials and accessories necessary to perform exercises in tailor's techniques during classes,
technical equipment during classes at school.

What are possible types of studies?

ISCFD offers a full array and possibilities of studying a certain profession.

DAYTIME STUDIES- for persons who can devote a maximum of their time for studies and fully use the potential of the school.

EVENING STUDIES - for persons working in Warsaw or in the vicinity of the capital city. The syllabus is constructed so that it is possible to come to lectures just after work. The earliest lectures start at 17-17.30.

WEEKEND STUDIES - for the most hardworking people or people coming from distant areas. Classes take place at weekends (Saturday, Sunday) once or twice a month.

There are no differences in the scope and contents of classes in particular types of studies. All types of studies include an identical syllabus approved by the Ministry of Culture.


What are the present achievements of the school?

Only in the academic year 2006/2007 our students got into the finals or received awards in the following competitions: Oskary Fashion, Habitus Baltija in Ryga, Fashion Canon, Provocations in Lublin, Golden Hanger, Wójcik for trainees, Jeans Design, Painting Fashion Theatre, Gryf Fashion Award, Off fashion, New Look Design.
Congratulations to the student of ISCFD, who this year got into the world famous fashion schools: St. Martin's of Fashion Design and London Collage of Art.

Does the school help to find accommodation for students of the weekend studies?

Yes. ISCFD cooperates with the Youth Hostel in Warsaw. ISCFD students automatically receive a 10% discount.


Are there any age limits while admitting candidates into the school?

No, both 19-year-olds and 40-year-olds successfully study in the school.
